STORYBOOK: ENGADIN ST. MORITZ - A VALLEY WITH STORIES TO TELL

It all started with a train ride through the Albula. Coincidentally Bettina Plattner-Gerber and Cordula Seger were sitting in the same carriage and started chatting. They said it was nice that the history of the Engadine was increasingly playing a role in tourism advertising. What a pity, they thought, that locals and guests were often served up quite freely invented legends, approximate and superficial things.

And so the first publication to combine fascinating stories from the last 150 years in a single work. The experiences of 40 people give rise to a multifaceted picture of the Upper Engadin. Mountain guide and hotelier, photographer and journalist, farmer and shoe retailer, Cresta rider and author, chef and bon vivant, doctor and beer brewer - all speak through the pages of this book. They have all put their personal view of the Engadine into words in letters and memoirs, diaries, family chronicles, essays and poems, in conversations and interviews.

The book can be ordered online at www.engadingeschichten.ch or directly at the plattner & plattner Art Gallery, at the stationary Schocher in Pontresina and at the Schuler Wega bookstore in St. Moritz.
