Alessi Tableware

Did you know that the kitchens of alpinelodging are equipped with Alessi tableware?

The elegant “Tonale” series tableware, designed by David Chipperfield, possesses an expressive simplicity.  The name “Tonale” pays tribute to the painter Giorgio Morandi whose utilization of different hues in his work gave ordinary objects an unmistakable individuality.  Objects in the series are given finishing touches using a variety of materials, like enamelled steel, glass, pottery, and wood. The English architect Chipperfield has found inspiration in traditional ceramic work from east Asia as well. These influences come together in the “Tonale” series to create a versatile collection. While the earthenware inner sides of the cups are slick and shiny, the outer surfaces have the feel of  matted, velvet-like leather. In 2011 the “Tonale” series was recognized with the Compasso d’Oro and the Good Design awards.
